Keys to a Great First Impression!Without the use of words, everything that we do leading up to our meeting has a significant impact on how we will be perceived by our customer. In other words, what we do getting to the appointment is equally as important as how we act or dress or what we say during the meeting. Everything creates an initial perception of you, by the customer. We all know the significance of creating a great first impression. We also know the impact of certain “things” that we must avoid doing or saying to avoid a negative first impression being projected. Not being punctual is one of those first impression “busters”. Time to time, for one reason or another, be it justified or not, we may have found ourselves being “behind schedule” and thus, late. To some, being late is the exception, not the norm. To others, being chronically late to any appointment or scheduled meeting seems to be the norm. Being punctual is an extremely important key which will create a great first impression before any meeting begins, be it with your customer, colleague, family or friend. In sales, there is no such thing as being “fashionably late”. When you are late, you allow the other person to ask the following questions about you:
Here are four effective keys to being punctual:
If you are running late, even if only by a few minutes, simply call your customer and let them know. Make the extra effort and leave two messages if you don’t get your customer “live”. Leave one on their voice mail and one with a live operator (an assistant or with reception). This will increase the odds that your customer will get the message before you arrive. By doing so, you will demonstrate covertly, that you are attentive to time; you made an extra effort to reach them, and that both the customer and the meeting are extremely important to you.
